Its time to control health spending, increase the education budget (including higher education) so that’s its on a par with Health, recalibrate the economic development budget so there’s more action and less endless aspiration, champion an alternative to the Barnett Formula that calculates Wales annual budget and settle Wales constitutional position for the foreseeable future.
Those are not my words but those of the Institute of Welsh Affairs in the Winter Editorial of its quarterly publication Journal and besides being common sense there’s not much in that list that the majority of people in Wales would disagree with.
However with so many vested interests in that list, is the new First Minister willing and able to take the necessary steps and change Wales for the better as they have all talked about for the last few weeks?
