Hat Tip to the FT Westminster blog
It’s been widely reported that Welsh Secretary Cheryl Gillan has appointed Sam Gibbs her former researcher as the new Special Advisor at the Welsh Office, but in a freedom of information request about the pay of all Special Advisors in the new Government published today, it clearly states on page 3 of the document that as of the 10th June there is a Vacancy for the SpAd role at the Welsh Office.
So what’s going on, has there been a rethink at Gwydyr House in light of the problems the Conservatives are having regarding Wales or is it a case of lack of communication between Government Departments that left Cheryl’s staffer off the list?
The Full list of SPAD’s and pay is HERE

Welsh Office or Wales Office? Have they decided yet?
Cheryl's spad is Richard Hazlewood. Thought everyone knew that.
The Sam Gibbs story wasn't "widely reported". It was an oft repeated rumour on blogs.
BTW it's Gwydr/Gwydyr House not Glyndwr House. Such a rebel would never be allowed in Whitehall!
Anon this from Matt Withers, Wales on Sunday 30th May
Prior to the election, observers long thought this was a foregone conclusion, with the Tories’ press officer in Wales, Richard Hazlewood, seen as a shoo-in. But apparently not.
Word reaches Spin Doctor that Gillan has lined up her researcher Sam Gibbs – a twentysomething Oxford graduate who, say Tory insiders, has absolutely no experience in or, indeed, any particular knowledge of Welsh affairs at all.
So the job of guiding Gillan through the tricky processes of a referendum on further powers for the Assembly could fall to not one, but two novices.
And intriguingly, all this suddenly came out just as Hazlewood embarked on a two-week holiday to Scandinavia. Curiouser and curiouser...
and he's not the only one to hear that Richard Hazlewood maybe out of the frame for the job.
After the Prof's assured display on Dragon's Eye tonight - he even admitted voting yes in 1997 - could he be in the frame?
she couldnt afford him ,but she does like eye candy
anon 8.54 i think that Dylan Jones Evans would be good choice for the job, as well the expertise he would bring his appointment would also neutralize some of the political jibes from the other parties.
anon 4.35 good point i'd forgotten about the name change.
Yes, but the prof said he voted YES in the 97 election on Dragon's Eye - probably unlike anyone else in the Tory Party. Hardly the qualification needed!!!
Me parece que esta información es completa e importante, para manejar bien en todo lo que trate de dicho tema.
