Naz Malik’s Sharp End Interview

Might write something longer on AWEMA when i’ve got time, but if you didn’t see ITV’s Sharp End this week, it worth a watch as it dedicated the programme to the Wales Audit Report on AWEMA and had Naz Malik’s first TV interview in a while, the man is clearly in denial about his role, even the smug Vaughan Gethin couldn't defend him at certain points in the studio and  you suspect the same level of denial is apparent among Ministers on the fifth floor of Ty Hywel.

The full programme is HERE

The only point i would add to the general discussion is that while the Civil Servants are taking the majority of flack over the Government’s failings on AWEMA, we need to remember that  Civil Servants don’t act independently of Ministers who set tone for the Department they run. So if poor communication and lack of accountability were the order of the day then Welsh Minister's are clearly are fault, despite what the Wales Audit Office had to say.

And for all denial of wrong doing coming from Cardiff Bay you have wonder why Carwyn Jones, Jane Hutt, Edwina Hart and other Ministers involved weren't willing to sit down with Betsan Powys, Adrian Masters or Martin Shipton on Thursday to tell their side of the story -  at the very least they owe the numpties who vote them in time after time an explanation over this sorry mess, the rest of us saw through the smoke and mirrors years ago and remain unmoved by Labour's  continued incompetence and indifference in governing Wales.

'Who was maintaining the Berwyn Centre?'

H/T Vaughan Roderick

More trouble for Labour at local authorities level as a Labour Council will demolish a Working Men's Institute because of poor management and maintenance of the building.

‘With the Berwyn Centre in Nant-y-moel marked for demolition because of its poor state of repair, one of the questions being asked is why the centre is in such a poor state of repair? If maintenance was routinely carried out by those charged with maintaining the building, why is there a problem?

If you were to search on the
Charities Commission website using the reference number 524198 you would find the charity named the, 'NANTYMOEL WORKMEN'S INSTITUTE' (For a direct link click here). The charity is charged with, ‘The provision and maintenance of a community centre for the use of the inhabitants of Nantymoel,' and Bridgend County Borough Council are listed as the trustees of the charity, so are charged with the maintenance of the building.

Therefore the situation is that the trustees of the charity charged with maintaining the Berwyn Centre wish to demolish it. They wish to demolish the building because it has been poorly maintained.

The report also lists an income of £4,574 for the last four years, but nothing spent. If the charity had money coming in, why wasn't it put toward maintenance? If it was put toward maintenance and spent on the charity's behalf, why doesn't it show in the report?
